RAM is non permanent. When the computer is turned off, everything on the RAM is deleted. It is only used temporarily for applications/programs that want to retrieve data quickly.
Non-volatile memory technology does NOT get deleted when you turn the computer/laptop off. It stays there. A common object that does this is the hard disk drive. You can store documents/data on this without fear of losing it.
