Based on my research, the fundamental (start) of the JW beliefs are the ff:

1. That there is no such thing as Eternal Hell Fire. Jesus was in Hell when he died. Acts 2:25-27.

2. That there is no immortal soul coming out of a mans body after death because the soul, it actually, will die. "Ezekiel 18:4"

That was the start of the succeeding bible research of Brother Rutherford on finding out the truth in The Bible up until today.

A:

In 1872, Charles Taze Russell founded what was later to become known as the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, the official name for the organisation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Russell had been brought up as a Presbyterian before adopting Congregationalist beliefs then discarding the Bible altogether. After attending a Second Adventist meeting, his interest in the Bible was rekindled, and he gathered together some like-minded friends and acquaintances to form a Bible study group, which was the forerunner of the Society. Russell, however, was a non-sectarian who did not believe in an authoritarian organization such as we find in the Jehovah's Witnesses; after Russell died, the present organization known as "Jehovah's Witnesses" emerged through Joseph Rutherford.

Of course the basis of Jehovah's Witness belief is Christianity. What sets the faith apart from most other denominations is the faith in the power of its leaders to predict the future. Quite a few prophecies have been made for the end of the world, Armageddon or the Second Coming of Christ. In each case, when the prophecy failed to eventuate, a plausible explanation was announced. In spite of past failures, the Society continues to issue new prophecies, although the date when they will occur is usually not as specific as in the past.
