It depends on your concept of beauty. To the Mayans when the children were born they were sometimes seen as flawed as Mayan concepts of beauty were different to modern 'Western' beauty. At an early age the children had a bead dangled in front of their eyes to make them cross-eyed as this was seen as a mark of beauty. They also used clay molds to enlarge their noses and had other 'modifications' made to them as they grew up to give them the Mayan Beauty. It can not be said if the Mayan children were pretty in the Mayan's eyes when they were first born, but no matter what they looked like personally i think any child is 'pretty' as you put it, because it's what's on the inside that counts I hope this helps
The Mayan Riviera (south of Cancun) has such beauty.
About half a million people in the Guatemalan departments of Quetzaltenango, Huehuetenango and San Marcos speak Mam, a Mayan language. Some Mam speakers also inhabit the Mexican state of Chiapas.
The Mayans had both a written language and a spoken language. Their written language, known as hieroglyphics, was used for inscriptions on monuments and codices. Their spoken language, Mayan languages, encompassed a group of related languages spoken by the Mayan peoples in Mesoamerica.
English is a Germanic language with a Latin-derived alphabet, while the Mayan language is a family of indigenous languages spoken primarily in Central America, with a hieroglyphic writing system. English is widely spoken worldwide, while the Mayan languages are primarily spoken by indigenous communities in parts of Guatemala, Mexico, Belize, and Honduras. The grammatical structures and vocabulary of English and Mayan languages are also very different due to their separate linguistic lineages.
