There is no valid reason to use chemicals for drain cleaning or root removal .

Hiring a licensed plumber rather then a franchise then can clear any type of stoppage without resorting to try to supplement their income pushing useless chemicals

Actually bases are better for cleaning drains, acids will corrode the pipes. Drano uses sodium hydroxide in addition to several other chemicals.
