Egypt is rumoured to take almost any currency but the people don't particually like taking foreign currency and so when I went there I had to change all my English pounds and Euros into Egyptian pounds

Take the currency of your home country, and upon arrival in Cuba change it into Cuban convertable pesos, (CUC) which cannot be purchased outside of Cuba.
