Poodles have thick fur that tangles easily if allowed to grow long and it get hot for the dog. So, yes, you should keep your poodle cut short in the summer, poodles usually need grooming once a month.
I give my Poodle what's called a "Puppy Cut" or a "Lamb Cut." The fur is basically one length (and pretty short) and is shaved at the base of the tail, the paws are shaved, and so is the muzzle. Not sure if it's the BEST cut but it's adorable and he seems comfortable in it.
The poodle cut we use is called the lamb or pet cut. It's cut all over the body about 1/2 in short. The nose and face is shaved and the feet, the tail (not the end) the ears are left long.
This is a extremely easy answer. The best dog to train is the poodle. The poodle are very obedient when you get them as little poodle babies.
A Poodle!

It would be best to take your poodle to the vet because they are the experts.
To be totally honest your best bet is the groomer. A Poodle with hard matting is very very hard to get out yourself!

You get a miniature poodle because a big poodle + a small poodle =a miniature poodle .
Some people cut it back in early summer so the sedum does not get so high.
