You will find nucleic acid in both prokaryote and eukaryote cells.
animal kingdom is divided into two parts. Mainly prokaryote and eukaryotes.

By definition, a prokaryote is a single celled organism. An onion is made up of many cells, hence, it is a eukaryote.
Prokaryotic is the only type of bacteria. And it 'works' or its proteins are made in the cytoplasm. So is its DNA, RNA etc. Nothing is bound in a prokaryote, which is the very definition of a prokaryote.
Prokaryote does not have a nucleus whereas Protocista (protoctist) do.
