It depends on the type and style of music you want to make.
Gibson makes very nice Guitars. I would suggest them (les paul most likely)
For thick and full sounds, I've always found ibanez the best. Ibanez guitars aren't the very best, but amazing for full sound.

I would have to agree I have an Ibanez Rg It fits my hand the best. It sounds really aggressive and it can be a very good beginners guitar and it can be a very good expert level guitar. Other good brands are Paul Reed Smith Guitars, Schecter, and Jackson. If you are beginning I would suggest not to get a Fender and get an Ibanez
This is a completely subjective question. Personally I don't think anyone has ever made a better Electric Guitar than the Fender Stratocaster. But, in my opinion Fender acoustics are best used for firewood. For acoustics, I prefer Martin or Taylor.
