I don't think it matters. I started straightening my hair in 7th grade and now im in 9th some people need more practice than others. i have never burned myself with a straightener but some of my friends do it constantly. i suggest to go for a higher brand straightener to prevent damage to your hair. vidal sasoon is my favorite. its not extremely expensive but has the quality of an expensive straightener.
