The first indoor skaating rink was located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and it opened in 1862. This rink was different from the indoor ice rinks of today because because it was a natural ice rink and as a result it could only be used in the winter. I don't have an exact address for the roller rink, but the White City amusement park that the rink was originally built as part of what located at 63rd Street and South Parkway (now Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive). The roller rink was along the 63rd St side of the park which would have placed it in the 300 block of E 63rd St. The rink remained in operation even after the rest of the park was closed. The entrance to the park was on a diagonal at the southwest corner of 63rd and South Parkway (now King Dr.) The Dulles elementary school now stands close to this site.
