First get in touch with you local BUILDING OFFICIAL. They will probably have some questions as to what you are doing and why. There may be some restrictions in your area as to height of retention and or the type of materials that can be used.
Next get with an engineer to design anything retaining over 2 feet of fill. It is MHO that ROCK WALLS SUCK! it is not a question of if they will fail, but when they will fail.
My first selection would be concrete if i had to do it myself. I would add a sealer to the earth side of the wall and porous material behind the wall for a minimum of 24" with drains at the base of the wall to allow for hydraulic relief.
JMHO, Hope this helps.

To keep retaining walls from heaving or cracking, due to hydrostatic pressure, you need to have some release for this pressure. Typically, this is done by installing perforated drain pipe in a bed of gravel along the length of the wall, close to the bottom. The pipe should have 'T' joints and extend through the wall every 6'-8'.
Yes there are hacks for backyard monsters but you need to download cheat engine.
Poor drainage destroys most retaining walls. Build in drainage right in the wall from base to close to the top. A solid footer is necessary for tall walls otherwise they shift as the seasons change and walls collapse. All footers should extend below the frost line.
