There are no natural sources of B-12 for a vegan unless you are willing to eat dirt, which isn't really a good idea. B-12 is produced by bacteria which thrive in the soil. Although animal products contain B-12, no animals produce their own. Carnivores have B-12 because they eat herbivores, and herbivores have B-12 because they eat unwashed plant matter, along with dirt, etc. that contain the bacteria that produce it. There are people who claim mushrooms, dietary yeast, and so on have enough B-12 to survive, but unfortunately those are the people who end up very ill and make the rest of us vegans look loony. I take Solaray brand B-12 which contains methylcobalamin as well as cyanocobalamin. They are very tasty (much like a sweet tart candy) and dissolve under the tongue. I take one about three times a week, and my B-12 levels, checked only 2 weeks ago in fact, are actually in the upper range of the normal scale, nearly 4 times higher than they were when I was eating a regular meat diet.
