This depend on the theme of the meal and or the wine if any is served, it would also depend on the occasion, dinner party, casual, or family.
Pasta dishes is just that "Pasta", it shouldn't be smothered in sauce regardless of the type of sauce.
For Casual and family I would serve what is most liked such as: Cream Sauces, Fish Sauces, Meat Sauces, Gnocchi Sauces etc.
For Theme and Dinner parties I suggest light Sauces sparingly seasoned or without onions and garlic.
String varieties (spaghetti type) and/or medium to small pasta variations for light sauces.
This can be up to the individuals personal taste, however there is a general rule of thumb for the combinations of pasta and sauces, in this case I would recommend "Tagliatelle"

no never eat pasta sauce when it has been over dated more than a week.
if it doesnt stink its good to go :D
spaghetti
generally pasta with tomato sauce
Yes, I eat it all the time. But whether or not wheat pasta and tomato sauce go together is really a matter of your individual opinions and tastes.
Only if it's kosher.
a light sauce is a type of sauce.... any type that is not heavy but instead light and you can eat a lot of it.
Pasta is not normally bad for cholesterol. It has some egg in it, but for the most part it is flour and water. What you put on it can be very bad for cholesterol! Heavy cream sauces, cheese and meat sauce are not good for cholesterol. Olive oil is the best oil. Pasta with a bit of garlic cooked in olive oil and some herbs is wonderful!
For the same reason..Why would you want to eat dry pasta?
It's all basically aesthetics. Most pasta tastes and is made the same. It's flour, egg, salt, and maybe a little water. Then it is pushed into different shapes by the pasta machine. I like pasta with little crevices so it holds more sauce. So feel free to use bow tie, linguine, elbow, shell, spaghetti, angel hair etc. interchangeably. You don't really eat pasta for the pasta taste, you eat it for the sauce taste. JUST DON'T OVERCOOK IT. I meant that kindly.
That would depend on the type of pasta you use, but more specifically also on the type of sauce you eat with the pasta. Wholewheat pastas and pasta made with the addition of vegetables like spinach is better than just plain white pasta. Also, pasta made from spelt or millet flour is also healthier. And then in terms of the sauce you eat with pasta, vegetable-based sauces and low-fat sauces is going to be healthier than meat-based or sauces with lots of cream and added fat.
I assume it can be done but I can't imagine what the pasta would be like after going through that process.
