This is debatable as all energies have different perks and consequences. The most powerful plant in existence so far is the Three Gorges Dam, a Hydroelectric Power Plant on the Yangtze River in China, generating 80,000GWh annually. However, in general, Nuclear Power Plants produce the most power on average.
One to look out for is solar. Whilst it is relatively ineffective right now, efficiency is constantly improving and ideas like Solar Islands from CSEM and Nolaris are making them a possible alternative for the future as well.

"Free fuel" They both utilize solar energy.
It is renewable energy source (i.e. non exhaustible). It is clean energy source (i.e. not polluting environment). However, its use has limitations of availability of sites with efficient wind speeds and not heavily populated.
It already is an energy source. It already is an energy source. It already is an energy source. It already is an energy source.
