What is the best starter Pokemon in platinum?

I think it would be piplup because when he gets to last evolved form he picks up a new type of skill which is Steel type and so when he is a water and steel type he is only weak against fighting and ground type so if i were you I personally i would choose Piplup.....If u do have another choose well that's you

There is no best starter, the all trump each other but in their second evolution the gain a type that has moves good against the starter that coult trump it.

Chimchar(infernape): Fire/fighting 1st evolution

Piplup(Empoleon):Water/ steel 2nd evolution

Turtwig(Torterra): 2nd evolution

Piplup is best starter for elite four but Chimchar is best for gyms.Hope this helps.

Haha!!! Really, each starter can take each other out at their final evolution forms. So there is really no best starter, like the one above says.

Personally, I like Piplup because he is only weak to two types, Grass type and Electric type, really. Anyway, its final evolution form, Empoleon, is part Steel type, so Electric type moves aren't really gonna work now, instead Fighting type and Ground type is in. So the downside is he's gonna be weak to one more type.

Piplup's moveset -

Drill Peck

Hydro Cannon

Ice Beam (Avalanche if possible)

Brine (because it can take out the foe easily when the foe only has half its HP left)

Ifernape is really good (chimchaar) . but torterra and empoleon are good also .
