Depends on where you live. From personal experience in a coastal environment, the main consideration is HUMIDITY rather than TEMPERATURE. Mold and mildew depend upon moisture to live and grow. Find out what the humidity level in your area is likely to be during that six-month period and set the thermostat to keep humidity below 50%. Doesn't have to be much below. Buy a decent humidistat (much like a thermometer) to indicate what your moisture level in your home is.
