What is the best thing to eat when you get your tonsils removed?

well you can eat soft, smooth, creamy foods. most likely you would eat ice cream or jello, but if you can find a different type of food that fits these qualities eat that but make sure you fill your tummy so you don't have to eat to long after your first meal.

∙ 13y agoWhen I got my tonsils out they reccomended me eating ice cream or ice pops. But that's just from my experience. The coldness soothes your throat. GOOD LUCK :)

∙ 15y agoNothing you have to suck so no straws. Lots of Ice cream and yogurt. I never ate anything hot but I ate at room temp or a little more.

Can you get strep throat if your tonsils were removed?
I have gotten my tonsils removed and yes you can still get strep throat. Although you get it not as easy and it will not be as much of a miserable experience. As you could imagine not having tonsils that also swell up. Plus you get to chill in a hospital and eat ice cream... Now that is bomb.

Its like a lite sore throat and you get to eat ice cream. your voice changes. you can swallow better and breath better.

Well, I haven't had my tonsils out, yet, but I will soon and my nose and throat doctor said that for about 1-2 weeks you will have a bad sore throat and probably not be able to speak either. The best thing to do is eat lots of mushy food or things that wont hurt the throat. So, yes... getting your tonsils out will change your voice for a while, but not forever....

If they are causing you a tremendous amount of recurring pain and the infections dont clear up well with anti-biotics then see your GP and discuss having them removed. I have had mine removed and It doesnt hurt too much. You get to eat plenty of Ice Cream!

Not at all they give you medications so you don't feel a thing and plus you get to eat ice cream for a day or two after it happens.

My tonsils were removed in 1966, and we were given ice cream in hospital, whilst the damage repaired itself. Be that as it may, I had my tonsils and adenoids removed two years ago, and I discovered this is not always the best way to go about with your recovery. Eating ice cream is often not recommended, as it is still slightly solid. I would suggest chicken broth, yogurt, or pudding. But if you're using this as an excuse to get lots of ice cream, then by all means, be my guest!

It's too painful to eat anything solid. Yogurts & fruit cups was my diet for 2 weeks after my Tonsilectomy.
Why is it a good idea to have your tonsils removed?
