If the cinch has rubbed off only hair, it is best to make sure the area is not irritated and use a different girth from then on. But if the rubbed area has broken skin and is painful, wash it with mild soap and apply a light coat of some kind of protectant, such as Furazone. You want to make sure no flies/dirt/hair/etc. get into the wound and harm it further. If none of this helps and the wound gets worse, call your vet. But do not put a cinch back on that horse until the wound has closed up.

A tactic that often helps with this problem: After you've tacked up and before you've mounted, pick up your horse's front legs (like you're going to pick his hooves) but instead, pull his legs out in front of him. It will stretch that skin behind his legs, and help ensure it doesn't wrinkle around the girth and rub.

What does a horse rider have to do before he mounts a horse?

Wear a helmet. Make sure the cinch is tight, that the reins are properly positioned on the bit, your stirrups are the right length, that the cinch is not pinching the horse, and of course wear your helmet =) You will find you will get into a routine as you progress.

Why do horse riders pull their horse forward before getting on the horse?

Sometimes a rider will move their horse forward after tightening a cinch to make sure the horse is not holding it's breath then will re-tighten the cinch before mounting to ensure the cinch is tight enough when riding to hold the saddle in place. Or they will move them to make sure that the cinch isn't pinching any skin, because if it is, it can rubs sores or bald spots under the girth. if the pull their horse's legs up and forward it stretches the horse's mussels. Also, some horses can be "cinchy" or "cold-backed." If you get on a horse right after you tighten their girth it hurts so they tense up.

Before sitting in the saddle you see some horse riders go in front of their horse and pull it forward why do they do this?

If you mean when they are leading their horse it is to make them move. How do you make a cinch?

How to make a saddle cinch. First take a strip of leather and cut it to size. Then you put a buckle on it. Then put some padding on to make sure it doesn't hurt your horse. Then see if it fits on the saddle. So there you go, you should have a almost perfect cinch!

Should you stand at least six feet behind a horse when walking behind it?

Not necessarily, as long as you put your hand on the horse while walking around it, the horse knows your there and you do not startle it, you should be okay. If the horse is known to kick at people, then you would be better walking in front than behind.AnswerIf you cannot walk, for some reason) in front of the horse then, yes it is better to walk at least six feet behind the horse. It usually puts you out of kicking distance.

What does the idiom 'a cinch' mean?

Something that is a cinch is very easy. You'd say "that's a cinch" if you know how to perform a task very well, or if you already know the material being discussed. A senior in high school would say "that's a cinch," if asked to add two and two together. The image is of cinching a saddle tightly so that it stays on the horse.
