According to Professionals who serve the BSA, the White Stag Leadership Development Program is highly recommended. It is not only the first Leadership Program to use a Comprehensive Syllabus, but it is also the longest running in the United States. One Area Director mentioned that "it is the most organized and successful Scout Leadership Program in the Nation." Many who have gone through the Program have said they believe that "White Stag is not just Scouting, it is a way of life." A solid passion for the Program runs through each and every member. It has also been declared by an Area Director that the rare award of the Silver Stag (which can only be earned through this Program) is one of the most difficult and coveted awards to earn next to the Hornaday Award.
