How do you fix the 2 red rings aka overheating on your Xbox 360?

there are lots of ways to do this first off try not to leave it on whin not playing it also try not having the room its in too hot or u could buy a cooler for it that's what i did thear are two coolers a back cooler and a base cooler if u want ur xbox360 to lay flat on its side don't buy the base one u cant lay it down with it on also u can try puting a fan so it blows on the system that could also help if u still have trouble with it over heating just conntact costommer service or reffer to the manual i hope this helps

This has happened many times just folow the steps in order
1. turn off the xbox and then turn it on if they are gone there you go if not do this
2. unplug everything and wait ten minutes and plug it back in if that doesnt work buy an eighty dollar xbox fan or trade in your xbox and get an elite they have fans made inside them so hurry up

∙ 12y agoAn Xbox really shouldn't be overheating. We run ours for hours on end with no problems. If it is still under guarantee, Xbox will take a look at it for you. Even when it is expired, you can send it in for a fee.
If you are comfortable taking your system apart, there are some other fixes. You have to be super careful though. You can totally kill your system if you aren't sure about what you are doing. If you are going to go ahead and give it a try, you need a can of air, some isopropyl alcohol, and a tube of thermal paste. Use the air to blow all of the dust out of everything. Dust and heat make great friends when in your electronics. Get rid of all the dust, and you get rid of a ton of heat. Next, clean all of the old thermal paste from the CPU, and apply new paste. This will really help with dispersing the heat as well. There are places you can take your Xbox to have all of this done for you as well.
Either way, you need to get it done as soon as you can. Every time your system has a thermal event, it takes time off of the life of your machine.

∙ 13y agoif your Xbox 360 or Xbox Over Heats you can send it too where you got it from and they'll tell you to mail a somewhere so they can fix the promblem... Or Just Take the Xbox Pieces all out and wait 24 Hrs and then install it back in and it will work.
