The best hand is a straight flush, which is 5 cards all of the same suit and in sequence. A Royal Flush is a special kind of straight flush, with 10 Jack Queen King and Ace of the same suit. In Texas Hold em there are no suits that are better than other suits.

9 high. If the pool has any two cards of the same value, you've got a pair, so the pool with the worst possible outcome is 2, 3, 4, 6, 7. If you have any of those, you have a pair, and if you have a 5, you have a straight. If you have an 8, then you either have another 8 for a pair, a 5 for a straight, or a 9 or higher for a high card. The lowest you can get out of that is a hand of 8, 9. Then you can walk outside and get struck by lightning two or three times and then have a meteor hit you because wow, you are unlucky. If this happens, just quit playing and go to bed. Even if it's noon.
