What is the best way to start a research?

To make this easier, let's say I am researching the Capitol Building. The first thing I might do is go to the library and talk to my reference librarian about some reliable sources (online or book form) that I could use. Then, perhaps I would call the Capitol building to try and get a primary source interview from an employee. If possible, I would visit the building itself (if local). Once you get enough information about your subject, you can outline your project and begin.
