Removal of dead tissue from the wound bed
Yes, it is normal since severity of the wound depends on many factors such as: 1)mechanism of injury, 2) part of the body, 3) tissue vascularity (how well is particular tissue rich with blood vessels) 4) etc.
Nothing special ! Simply clean the wound with mild anti-septic, and elther apply a temporary dressing or (if it's not bleeding) leave it open to the air to heal. The Black racer is a non-venomous species.
Femoral
By definition it's a hard, non-expanding wound.
Tertiary intention is delayed primary closure of a surgical wound. The wound that is too heavily contaminated for primary closure is left open after removal of all non-viable tissue.
If it´s a small wound, use non perfumed creme. If it´s a bigger wound I would use honey. Honey helps to close the wound and also helps the skin from beeing to dry.
