As domestic dogs have been selectively bred by humans for more than 6000 years, their appearances have been shaped by human breeders rather than natural selection. Hence dogs are not 'adapted' to their environments, but selected by humans to fit the desired job they are bred to do.

However, dogs as a general species are known to have exceptionally sensitive noses, which are evident to different degrees in all dogs. This sensitivity is an adaptation for tracking prey and identifying territory occupied by other dogs. They have a deep ear canal which not only gives them acute hearing but the ability to discern the direction of a sound, which is a useful adaptation for hunting prey. a they also have strong canine teeth for tearing their food.

Widely spaced eyes gives a wide field of vision for surveillance and detection of danger. Large ears allow for heat exchange between the rabbit and the environment. They also allow the rabbit to detect predators from farther away.

Rabbits will freeze when startled to reduce the possibility of detection by wandering predators. They are also less active in the winter (they do not hibernate) to conserve energy.

It depends on the species, but generally, rabbits have widely spaced eyes set high on their heads, which gives them a wider range of vision, which helps it to see predators more easily. For the same reason, its neck is flexible, though weak, enabling it to rotate its head widely. Rabbits are also characterised by strong hind legs for quick movement, and front legs equipped with claws for digging. When it comes to feeding, they are sharp incisors in the front of their jaws for nipping off plant parts, and molars at the back for grinding the vegetation for easier digestion.
