It is a metric measurment of engine size. An example is the 350 Cubic Inch Chevy engine. It is also called a 5.7 Liter engine. This measurment is the bore of the cylinder and the distance it travels. Take the engines bore X stroke X the #of cylinders=liters

It depends on the block, check with a reputable shop. A good estimate is .030 (Or 30 thousandths of an inch, in case I got the decimal wrong.)
rule of thumb here anything under 400 ci adds 5 cubic inch per .03 over bore. at 400 and over cubic inch, every .03 overbore adds 6 cubic inch. heres a formula bore X bore X stroke X number of cylinders x .7854 = cubic inch 427 chevy 4.25 bore 3.76 stroke =426.72 CI
