Glucose is the main source of energy of the brain. It is converted to ATP inside the brain.

However, the brain cells (neurons) themselves use some glucose.

The other glucose is first metabolized and converted to "Lactate" by cells inside the brain called "Astrocytes".

The lactate produced will then enter the neurons and then is converted to ATP.
