There are four states that border the Oklahoma "panhandle". These states are Kansas (on the north), Colorado (on the northwest), New Mexico (on the west) and Texas (on the south). Their capitals are Topeka, Denver, Albuquerque and Austin respectively. None of the capitals themselves are particularly near the panhandle; both Albuquerque and Denver are about 100 miles away from the nearest point in the panhandle, and Topeka and Austin are both considerably further than that.
