When a plano-convex lens with its convex surface is placed on a plane glass sheet, an air film of gradually increasing thickness outward is formed between the lens and the sheet. The thickness of film at the point of contact is zero. If monochromatic light is allowed to fall normally on the lens, and the film is viewed in reflected light, alternate bright and dark concentric rings are seen around the point of contact. These rings were first discovered by Newton, that's why they are called NEWTON'S RINGS .

WHY NEWTON'S RINGS ARE FORMED
Newton's rings are formed due to interference between the light waves reflected from the top and bottom surfaces of the air film formed between the lens and glass sheet. EXPLANATIONThe phenomenon of the formation of theNewton's rings can be explained on the basis of wave theory of light.
An air film of varying thickness is formed between the lens and the glass sheet.
When a light ray is incident on the upper surface of the lens, it is reflected as well as refracted.
When the refracted ray strikes the glass sheet, it undergo a phase change of 180O on reflection.
Interference occurs between the two waves which interfere constructively if path difference between them is (m+1/2)land destructively if path difference between them is mlproducing alternate bright and dark rings.
Newton's rings is an interference pattern caused by the reflection of light between two surfaces - a spherical surface and an adjacent flat surface. When viewed with monochromatic (single color) light it appears as a series of concentric, alternating light and dark rings centered at the point of contact between the two surfaces.
newton's rings are formed by the interference of light
The newton's rings can be observed using a travelling microscope. These rings are formed in the interface between the glass plate and the convex lens.
the rings are formed in the air film in the space between the lens and the glass plate.

The pound.force, or in the SI system the Newton (1 pound.force = 4.48 Newtons)
8.8 newtons per kg i hope this is right cause it doesnt seem like it sorry
43.10 newtons because weight affect newtons
About 712 newtons per 160lbs.
32 pounds force = 142.343092 newtons
The answer is 127.35cm
sodium light
rings start collapsing to the centre
outer rings are spaced more closely than the inner ones.Because slope of lens increases outward, separation of rings get smaller for the outer rings.
Since a plano-convex lens is being used in Newton's Rings .. that's why=the fringes are seen circular from above, on the glass plate.=
newtons rings
if we use glass plate then ring's will be clear
There are no condition that can cause rings to align that was a mistake by the installer. Once the rings are set on the piston they are permanently in place.
fringes are formed in air film inspacebetween lens and glass plate
yes
Stuck or broken oil rings can cause blue smoke.
