Possibly oil rings broken or valve stem seal/valve seats worn out. Test for compression and gasket leaks.
if its mild smoke that means the engine warming up if it big cloud of smoke then its the engine block is no good..happened to mee too so i did a swap
A bad fuel injector can cause your 2004 Toyota Camry to smoke when you start it up. A plugged air filter can also cause it to smoke.
Cold start

This is not that uncommon. Some oil is so hot that it will start to smoke. The smoke can escape through this opening to the engine.

Smoke on start up indicates worn valve seals and guides. This won't cause any problems other than a little smoke at first start. Hitch when accelerating... impossible to answer that one. All the usual stuff I guess. When was the last time it had a GOOD tune up? Have you checked the computer for any codes? If it has a real problem the computer will usually display a code to indicate what's wrong. Suggest you start there.
