Amateur with some ideas: 1-could be fuse in box under dash on driver's side 2-my trunk light did the same, traced wire that had worn in a spot from constant opening and shutting - could the headlight wiring have same wear and tear?

You need to have it checked for codes. If you fix the cause of the codes the light will stay off.

The headlight switch should be easily removed from the dash. There are two connectors on the back side of the switch (one for the headlights and one for the dimmer). Simply unpug the connectors and plug in the new switch.
Probably a fuse. I didn't think they were on the same circuit but they could be. check that first.
It doesn't have one, it is distributorless.
