bad torque converter .
I have a 1996 Firebird and it has 4. Two in the manifolds and one before the catalytic converter and one after.
Yes.
it is on the passenger side right behind where the exhaust pipes meet to form the y pipe
have your transmission checked. from experience and from your repairs it might be your tranny. jr
its the catalytic converter.....im going through the same issues with my 1990 firebird cheap catalytic converter on rock auto http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1251986,parttype,5808
its goes to the smog pump which pumps oxygen into the cat to help the burning process and increase the cats life
After 1975, the epa demanded that pollution control be implemented into cars...hence the catalytic converter, so yes, you need one, i am in the middle of installing one on mine because i got cited for out of date inspection. So if only they made our cars 2 years before 1975 and earlier do not need cats
Do a compression test Check for plugged catalytic converter
no i don't think there was one in 2002 but there was in 2000.
The O2 sensor is on the drivers side exhaust manifold. When all four exhaust pipes come together from the manifold that area is called the collector. The O2 sensor should be right there. If your looking for this and you get to the catalytic converter you have gone too far.
On my 1991 Firebird 305 TBI the computer shuts down acceleration after 110 mph. I would assume it is probably the same for a 1994.
I have a 1991 v6 and the o2 sensor isn't exactly where all the repair guides say it is. They all say its on the exhaust manifold. If you have already checked there and haven't found anything I woul look underneath the car just before the catalytic converter. That's where mine is.
