Carbon emissions have greatly increased over the past 200 years, as humanity discovered coal and factories and motor vehicles. Human population has also increased from one billion to almost six billion, and all these people want to live with refrigerators, televisions and motor vehicles with air conditioning. This puts tremendous pressure on governments all over the world to provide more and more electricity. Most electricity is produced by burning coal and other fossil fuels.

The other cause is the destruction of the forests, which can no longer keep up with the amount of carbon in the atmosphere.

The greenhouse effect is when the gases like water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, ozone and other gases build up in the atmosphere and absorb that heat that used to be reflected out into space.

The cause of the environmental crisis that is global warming is man's burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) and destruction of forests all over the world (deforestation). The burning of fossil fuels in industry, transport and the generation of electricity releases carbon dioxide (CO2) which is building up in the atmosphere and warming the earth.

The effect of this global warming is climate change. Extra heat in the atmosphere equals extra energy, and this is melting Arctic ice and glaciers, warming and expanding oceans and giving extra strength to weather events like storms, floods and blizzards.
An environmental crisis may be caused by pollution or other human activities like deforestation. Its effect is that resources may be dilapidated and life endangered.

No one wants to admit to it, but every environmental problem can be tied back to over population. Too many people for the resources available. The solution, reduce the population. If we don't, mother nature will do it for us.

The greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon, as long as naturally occurring greenhouse gases remain in at their long term average concentrations in the atmosphere. It is this effect that keeps the world at a comforable temperature, suitable for human existence.

The enhanced greenhouse effect occurs because of human activities such as burning coal, oil and natural gas, as well as deforestation and cement manufacture. Because of these activities, the concentration of carbon dioxide, an important greenhouse gas, has increased by over 35 per cent since pre-industrial times, from the long-term reange of 260-280 parts per million (ppm) to the present level of over 380 ppm.

Climate scientists say that it is the enhanced greenhouse effect that is causing the present alarming rate of global warming.

Earth's climate has changed numerous times in ages past. One fascinating, fairly recent example was known as the Azolla Event, as a freshwater arctic fern sequestered gigatons of atmospheric carbon onto the ocean floor. This drop in greenhouse gas plunged earth into an ice age.

Currently scientists estimate as much as 5% of current global climate change is due to natural varying conditions. Sometimes it is a little bit warmer, sometimes cooler. That's just weather cycles. The remaining 95%+ they have pretty well determined is due to industrious humans liberating 30 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year. This rate of change is unprecedented in our reconstructions of past CO2 levels.

The main cause of the global food crisis is the cost of food. Food shortages, and high demands for food drive up the cost. People cannot afford to buy food, therefore they go hungry.

Yes, global warming is a global environmental crisis. If we don't take serious action now it may soon be too late to do much about it.

How does the green hose and the ozone layer effect climate change?

Ozone depletion causes global warming. It then causes climate change.

What is climate change global warming causing?

"Climate Change" and "Global Warming" are not the same, though related. Global Warming causes Climate Change. With Global Warming we understand the warming of the earth's global temperature. That warming has in turn an effect on the earth's global climate and on more localized climates (like the climate of England or Western US).

Is climate change and global warming a serious problem requiring global action?

Yes, it certainly is.

What is the principal cause of the ozone layer that changes the global climate?

Ozone depletion causes global warming. This can then change the global temperature.

Why is the term climate change used than global warming?

Global warming causes climate change. We now use the term climate change because it deals with all the many changes. Global warming is still happening and the warming is putting more energy into the atmosphere. This extra energy is changing the climate.

Is greenhouse effect is the other name of global warming?

Strictly speaking there is no other name for global warming."The whole earth heating up" might be another name.Global warming is causing climate change, so many people think they are both the same, so they say:"Climate change is another name for global warming", but they are not really the same.

What is a more accurate term for global warming?

The rise in temperature all over the world. This is not more accurate. It is the same way of saying it. Global warming causes climate change, but is not the same as climate change.

Is global warming a cause or a effect of climate change?

Global warming is the cause of climate change.Climate change is the result of global warming.

Where did climate change all begin?

Global warming and global climate change happen all over the world. That is the meaning of global.

Does the ozone have anything to do with climate change?

Yes it does. Ozone depletion causes global warming, which increases the temperature on earth.

Why is climate change a global problem?

Climate change is a global problem as it affects the entire globe. Carbon dioxide does not recognize international boundaries. Increasing concentrations of greenhouse gasses affect the entire planet, as it requires only months for gas dispersal to accomplish fairly thorough mixing.

What are the causes of melting of glaciers of India?

Due to global warming. Rise in temperature. Climate change. Due to weather cycle.
