Unplug and take out the oxygen sensor. Then undo the catalytic converter.Find something long and hard enough to bust up the honeycomb inside to gut it,and then your good.Put it together;but be carefull with the oxygen sensor not to damage in the process.
It will be in the exhaust system probably before the muffler.
It will cause the check engine light to come on with no benefits.
The " downstream " O2 sensor is in the exhaust AFTER the catalytic converter It is also called a catalyst monitor because it is used to monitor the performance of the catalytic converter
There are four. Two on the upstream (before the catalytic) and two after catalytic converter (downstream).
Bank 1 is the upper oxygen sensor(s) before the catalyst (catalytic converter) bank 2 is the oxygen sensor after the catalyst (catalytic converter)
There are two sensors. They are located on the y pipes above the catalytic converters "There are actually four--2 before the converter and 2 after the converter...
There are two cat concerters on that van - were they both changed?
It is the upstream(before catalytic converter) oxygen sensor on the exaust that comes off the front engine bank.
Hard starting, loss of power, poor fuel economy, and a blowing noise under full acceleration.
It is inside of and is part of the torque converter.
Under your van, between the catalytic converter and the muffler. Approx under the front seats of the vehicle. It has 2 mesh 'flexy' things on it.
The answer is quite simple, a small amount of the white precious metal, platinum is used in the converter. Platinum is roughly valued at $2,000.00 per ounce. There you have it. The components are not that expensive to produce but, you pay for the Platinum.
