Greece lies in the Mediterranean CLimate Zone, the smallest zone in the world.

The Zone has customary cold, wet winters followed by hot dry (but sometimes humid) summers. The Mediterranean Climate Zone is only found in a handful of places in the world, including Southern Australia, Chile, South Africa, the Mediterranean, and California.

This zone is difficult to live in because region which rely on agriculture (thus irrigation) have difficult times because the growing season for plants (the season which requires the most water) is the summer, where in the rest of the world summers are wet, Greece and the other mediterranean zones have dry summers, which often leads to droughts.
