The concept of self-realization is to go on a quest and ask the questions - who am I, and why am I here? We think we are this person with a name, a body, the one we can see in the mirror, and the ego that says I, me and mine. But this person is constantly changing. I was once a baby, and one day I will die, then where will I go? When we go in quest of the self, then we realize that we are not this body that started as an embryo, and before that, as a zygote and that will finally end as ashes. We are not this body that will return to dust, we are not even the mind that we cannot find but we exist, we are that power, that life that departs at death. When we go in quest of this then we realize the true self - that Divine Spirit, the Atman, the Soul - that is self-realization.
