It's really quite simple. ISIS wants to take over the world, and force everybody to obey their particular brand of Islam - and to obey their self-proclaimed caliph. Not everybody agrees - including most Muslims (followers of Islam).
Also, they use a lot of violence to achieve their aim.
There are many different types of conflict such as internal or external. Another example would be perceived conflict which is simply the awareness of a conflict situation.
