Industrial growth lead to urbanization. With factories employing hundreds of people per factory, those people needed homes. After you have 4-5 factories that's 500 workers + their families. Then, those people need things like food, clothing, ect. Realizing the biz opertunity, people make shops, continue to grow and u have NYC.
