The civet does with the coffee what any mammal does with one of the main components of its diet [it eats it], after which what happens to that component is what happens to any of the main components of anyone's diet after they've been eaten [it is digested, it leaves the body of the animal]. After the coffee has left the animal's body it is then, and only then, harvested to be made into the coffee known as Kopi Luwak--which is the most expensive coffee in the world.
