For trail riding with tires containing tubes, 30-35 psi is a good pressure to give you some traction while not risking a pinch flat. If you are running tubeless tires with sealant (probably not), anywhere from 20-30 psi is ok, depending on personal preference.

High! You should hardly be able to squeeze the tire (side to side with your hand) more than a few millimeters.

Depends on the type of bike. A skinny tire road bicycle will have several times higher pressure than a tractor tire, while a wide tire Mountainbike can have anything between the double to 1/3 of the pressure of a tra tire.
