yes. the lights inside might not correspond to the lights in your bug but you can pretty much hook up any speedo and lights into another one. like there might be more lights in the newwer speedo than you need for your 71 but pretty much from 71 and on they were all the same. parts are interchangable

The proper side view mirrors for your 71 are 71-73 same model and were remote control. 74-78 used a different mirror.
Yes, but the transaxles are different. A 66 uses the swing axle; 71's are IRS.
Depends on which Detroit engine you're referring to. For a 60 Series, regardless of year and displacement, it's 153624. the 6V92, 8V92, 12V71, etc. will have a different firing order.
