"Turd" by itself is probably applicable if not appropriate in less polite conversation, or a conversation by non-adults. A turd generally refers to biological waste material (post digestive solids and liquids) excreted by animals (including humans) on Earth. (Yes, we have no working reference for any other place other than Earth. Work with me here.)

Technically referred to as "feces" or "fecal material", "solid waste" is also a reasonable and polite alternative. The correct word depends on the age and type of audience; four-year-olds will be amused by the use of turd, forty-year-old doctors will still be amused, but won't be able to express that amusement openly. Most slang terms will have similar responses from either group. Technically correct terms will confuse the four-year-olds, and will generally not stop the doctors from rephrasing or substituting other terms; it depends on where they are and how much they've had to drink.

More commonly used synonyms for turd include, but are not limited to:

Sh*t, cr*p, poo, poo-poo, c*ca, fewmets, scat, droppings, "business" (as in "somebody did some 'business' over there"), logs, loafs, doodie, patties, etc. I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader to work out both the correct spellings of the edited words above, and any additional alternative name possibilities with Mr. Google.

This is of course assuming you were asking about that common meaning of turd. If you were asking for a more correct word for an alternative meaning for turd (mean person, socially unloved person, etc.), then you'll have to clarify your question.
