on my 2000 Malibu with the 3100 or 3.1 it cost me a little over $700 bucks..that's with anti freeze flush and fill, new thermostadt, the good gasket set (fel pro)not the cheap one and oil and filter..
by the lower intake manifold while you are doing this you should replace the intake manifold gasket anyway because it will leak sooner or later.
your intake manifold gasket is cracked...replace it and you should be fine...if it continues you may have a bigger problem
You must remove the exhaust manifold, intake manifold, and then remove the head. This is a major repair that should only be attempted by a pro.
I live in KY. And the going labor rate on that job is 250.00 to 300.00 dollars to replace the intake manifold gasket.I charge 250.00 $ when I do them at the shop.

You will need to remove the upper intake manifold, lay it back, then the fuel rail is directly underneath. It is held on by two bolts. Remove these, then put on your new injectors and o-rings, and make sure to put a even coat of vaseline on the o-rings to help them slide easily into the lower intake manifold. Tighten the bolts, put the upper intake manifold on, and you're ready to go. This would also be a good time to replace the plenum gaskets (upper intake manifold) if necessary. This job should take the average do-it-yourselfer about 2 hours to complete.
Need to know what the diagnoses or symptoms are.
If you have to ask that question you probably should not attempt the job your self.
Not sure what an XTL is, but usually when spark plugs are under an intake you should remove the intake to replace them. Don't forget to buy a new intake manifold gasket BEFORE you take the car apart.
from the intake manifold.
disconnect the intake tube from the intake box (located it the front passenger side corner under the hood). disconnect it from the intake manifold. unbolt the intake box, take it out, and slide your new intake pipe onto the manifold, and run it to the same place you had the box at. your cone (filter) should sit in the same place.
It should take about an hour to change the intake manifold gasket. This part can be replaced by taking off the intake manifold cover, cleaning the old gasket off and sealing a new gasket in the space and tightening the bolts. When other things are in the way, like the alternator, it will take longer.
