The curb weight of a 1989 Ford F-350 with 2-wheel drive and chassis and a 7.3 Diesel engine is around 6,200 pounds. The specific weight for this vehicle is also noted on a sticker inside the driver's side door on the frame.
The term chassis is the frame plus the "running gears". So, the chassis is the frame, engine, drive shaft, differential, transmission...etc
You can drive a diesel engine, or any other type, blowing any colour smoke you wish. Though it is pretty foolish to smoke
The gross vehicle weight as listed by Chevy was 6100 lbs for the gasoline engine and 6250 for the diesel engine. The curb weight for the 4 wheel drive model was listed as 5200 lbs.
If the van has a diesel engine, then you MUST use diesel fuel. Unleaded gasoline will destroy a diesel engine. Diesel fuel is also used as a lubricant in a diesel engine. The use of any other fuel except diesel will result in serious damage. If you have put unleaded in your diesel, do not start or drive this vehicle until you drain the tank and change all the fuel filters. If the van has a diesel engine, then you MUST use diesel fuel. A diesel-electric loco - is basically a train engine. The diesel engine turns an alternator, which generates electricity to power the motors which drive the wheels.... WHY was this posted in the Cakes, Chips and Sandwiches sections !
engine, drive train, chassis, steering, cab, instrumentation -- basically the same as a car.
The term chassis means the frame plus the "running gear" like engine, transmission, drive shaft, differential, and suspension. That's what we meant when describing older cars that actually had a full frame. Since a lot of new cars are now unibody construction, you could call the front portion of frame which connects to the rest of the body an "engine chassis". Or, if you will, a frame work which supports the engine.
What engine is it? 2.5L, 2.8L, 4.0L or Diesel? What accessories do you have? What transmission (manual or auto)? Is it 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive?
you dont need to remove drive shaft or remove engine mounts to change a alternator on a fiat doblo 1.9 diesel, ive just done one, remove dip stick, remove hoses into steering ram,get a scissor car jack, jack between sump & chassis only a little & alternator will slide out.
sounds like the auto transmission has a fault
yes
