Dairy Queen introduced the blizzard in 1985, and in that year they sold 175 million of them.
Since 1940 Dairy Queen has been satisfying customers with tasty treats and food. Its menu includes everything from ice cream and shakes to burgers and onion rings to MooLattA's and ice cream cakes. Some locations even serve breakfast. No matter the craving Dairy Queen can likely satisfy. With in-store specials and regularly distributed coupons, Dairy Queen can satisfy the wallet too. Its widely popular frozen Blizzard treat has its own "Fan Club" which offers buy-one-get-one-free coupons throughout the year. Customers can be part of the Blizzard Fan Club by visiting Dairy Queen's website and joining the club. Once registered, guests will receive emails announcing flavors of the month as well as six buy-one-get-one Blizzard offers during the year. Some Dairy Queen locations offer buy-one-get-one Blizzard treats anytime it snows in their location. The offer is good for the entire snow day even if the snow only falls for a few minutes. Coupon sheets are also distributed regularly through community discount mailers and local newspapers. Coupons vary by distribution but include discounts on food items as well as frozen treats. Occasionally coupons for dollars off the popular Dairy Queen cakes will be distributed. Most Dairy Queen coupons have an expiration date so if a Dairy Queen cake is on the list, plan ahead and purchase within the coupon date for maximum savings. Many Dairy Queen stores support local children by offering rewards for good grades and reading. Children may be eligible for a free ice cream cone if their report card meets the grade requirements of the local Dairy Queen. Some Dairy Queen locations also distribute free ice cream offers for children through reading programs at local libraries and various other community events. Offers vary by location. Call your local Dairy Queen for more information. A free frozen treat offer is also included with the purchase of a children's meal. The frozen treat offer can be redeemed at the time the meal is purchased or save it for a special treat on another day.
