After his death on November 15, 1280 he was buried in Cologne, Germany. On December 15, 1931 he was beatified when Pope Pius XI declared him as a saint and a doctor of the Church. His title as Saint was granted on December 16, 1941 by Pope Pius XII who gave him the title of Patron Saint of Natural Sciences.
Albert the Great was beatified in 1622 by Pope Gregory XV and canonized in 1931 by Pope Pius XI.
