Transparent
Transparent is a bit iffy..? By default, a Catalyst switch is in the no-management-domain state until it receives an advertisement for a domain over a trunk link or until you configure a management domain. However, the default mode is Server mode.

STP means standard temperature and pressure and VTP means volume temperature and pressure oh and btw standard temperature and pressure is 0 degrees Celsius and 1 atmosphere

In very simple language. Cisco switches can be configured in VTP Server, transparent or client mode. VTP server is the default mode in most everyday switches. The switch must be in server mode in order to create, add, delete VLAN's in the same domain. If I am using more than one switch, the one with the lowest MAC address is the one I would use to be my STP. The other switch would be in CLIENT mode (my preference).
Select the correct VTP mode and version. Configure the switch with the name of the new management domain. Verify that the switch has a lower configuration revision number than the other switches in the new domain.
It is configured in VTP server mode. STP is automatically enabled. All switch ports are assigned to VLAN1.
transparent
Select the correct VTP mode and version. Configure the switch with the name of the new management domain. Verify that the switch has a lower configuration revision number than the other switches in the new domain.
VTP server mode and VTP transparent mode.
A switch running in VTP Transparent mode will not participate in VLAN synchronization. With VTP version 2, it will forward VLAN traffic out its trunk interfaces.
Transparent mode
transparent
You must first delete all of its configuration. Higher revision number, for example, on a switch can result in a disaster when re-deployed in a VTP network. However, if all of the switch on the VTP network is set to transparent mode, there should be no problem.
