A few thoughts:
The Garden of Eden was planted by God "toward the east" (Genesis 2:8), filled with plants and trees beautiful to look at and good to eat (Genesis 2:9+16), and with animals that man had the responsibility to name and care for(Genesis 2:19+20). It was large enough to be watered by a river which split into four heads (Genesis 2:10-14), yet manageable enough to be cultivated and cared for by man (Genesis 2:15). The weather was mild and warm, as it's initial inhabitants wore no clothing(Genesis 2:25) and it was given to man as their first home(Genesis 1:28)(Psalm 115:16).
