The epicentre of an earthquake is the point on the earth's surface away from which the seismic waves produced by an earthquake radiate. This is similar to the way waves or ripples in a pond move outwards in concentric circles from the point where you throw a stone into the water.
As such the epicentre is the point on the earth's surface directly above the earthquake's focus or hypocentre (the point within the earth where the fault rupture or movement actually occurs).
Epicentre is the originating point of athing
e.g the epicentre of an earthquake is the point where it started
Definition of an epicentre:
The epicentre of an earthquake is the point directly about the focus on the earth's surface.
The epicentre is where the earthquake took place
an epicentre is the part of an earthquake directly above the fault line. a fault line is the bit where the two plates rub together.
The point is the epicentre of the earthquake.

The difference between the epicentre and the focus of earthquakes is this:The focus of the earthquake is where the actual earthquake occurred and the epicentre is on the ground directly above the focus. The epicentre is used to say where the earthquake was in relation to places near where it occurred.Hope this helped :)

the spot above the centre of the earthquake is called the epicentre.
Each earthquake has just one epicentre.
