1) legal decision or form of proceeding serving as an authoritative rule or pattern in future similar or analogous cases.

2) any act, decision, or case that serves as a guide or justification for subsequent situations.
Basically a "first-time precedent" is something that has never been done before and serves as an example for similar future situations.
"Precedent" means coming before, something which precedes. In law it means a past decision in a similar case.
