Is the American kennel club a puppy mill?
No. The American Kennel Club (AKC) is a registry of purebred dog pedigrees in the United States (in addition to promoting events, like dog shows, for purebred dogs, but that's irrelevant to the question). To register with the AKC, an owner needs to show the dog's parents were registered as a purebred breed (recognized by the AKC). The AKC is not a puppy mill itself, but note that a piece of paper signifying a dog is registered with the AKC is not a sign the dog didn't originally come from a puppy mill.
